i miss din ho!
oh how i miss good chinese food. i haven't visited many chinese restaurants here in glasgow yet, but the ones that i have eaten at doesn't even come close to what my aunt's old restaurant din ho use to serve. yes, past tense. although the restaurant is still there, the owners have moved on. they are now down south at a resturant called china hill. i haven't been there yet, but from what i understand it is not the same style of restaurant. they do not make chinese bbq. they are more of a togo/delivery type restaurant. we will be going there when we make a trip back to the states. for now we make do with the small chinese delivery places we have here.

the wonders of pregnancy
i didn't realize this till now, but hair didn't fall out of my head while i was pregnant. i realize this now, because they're starting to fall out now like before when i wasn't pregnant. also, i only had one headache and it was a mild one, i didn't get sick, and my hair grew 6 inches during the eight months i was pregnant. i'm sure some of that was due to the vitamins i was taking, but still, it's pretty amazing. i'm not saying i'm ready to get pregnant again, but it was pretty great not having to pick up hairs off the ground for a while.

thinking back...
i can only remember two times in my life where i held a baby for more than a minute. once was when i was in elementary school when i met my baby cousin for the first time in hong kong, and the second time was my nephew visiting us in austin. the parents were around both times. i didn't really grow up around babies, and i never baby sat. i can't remember ever changing a diaper. this is the first time i have ever been alone with a baby. and i didn't even realize this until my sister in law pointed it out, i'm not only alone with a baby, i'm alone with a baby in a whole other country. scary...

my postnatal appointment
i find the national health care system to be kinda strange here in the uk. i received a letter in the mail two weeks ago for today's postnatal appointment. i waited an hour to be seen and all the appointment consisted of was the doctor asking me if i understood everything that happened during my pregnancy and during delivery. seems like she could have called me for that.

glasgow cathedral
i believe this is the oldest building in scotland. this cathedral was built in the 12th and 13th centuries over a long number of years. this is glasgow's best example of medieval architecture. it's the only medieval cathedral on scottish mainland to survive the1560 Reformation. it was pretty amazing. i wish i had a better camera to capture it better.
they do hold Presbyterian services there on wednesdays and sundays.

our first baby gifts
i went to the hospital for my 20 week scan today. i'm halfway there! when we were at the hospital for the very first scan, we saw a sign posted on the wall that said it wasn't hospital policy to announce the gender, so don't ask. i was really hoping that the dr would go ahead and tell me what the gender is, but no luck there. we'll have to make an appointment at a private ultrasound clinic if we want to know.
my mother-in-law brought over baby's first gifts. i can't wait to start shopping for everything else, except i have no clue. good thing my cousin pam sent me a list of things that she bought for her son. now i have a starting point.

lush handmade cosmetics
there's this store called lush by our flat. they sell fresh handmade cosmetics. i think cosmetics means something different here. it's more like a bath and body works type store. if you pass by one of these, you should take a look. it's very interesting inside, and you'll come out smelling wonderful.
